Paint Sunflowers with Passion

To paint sunflowers, the iconic flowers made famous by the great artist Vincent van Gogh is a great thing to do. This art tutorial will show you how to paint sunflowers with the passion Van Gogh might have used. But not necessarily using his techniques.

In this painting tutorial I shall use student quality acrylic paint produced by Winsor Newton. The methods of applying the paint and how different effects can be created by twisting and flicking with the brush are all demonstrated.

The painting concentrates on the sunflower heads and is aimed at beginners, those who teach primary or elementary school children. Those wishing to add a bit of a flourish to their painting techniques will also benefit.

Are you an Artist?

At Paul Priestley’s Art World, we believe being an artist is a twofold process. It’s a combination between skills, techniques, creativity and the ability to see things in a way others often can’t. Some people become obsessed with learning the techniques of sketching, drawing and painting, but that only takes you so far.

Remember obtaining the best materials you can afford will not make you a better artist. What you do with the materials is the important issue. Paul Gauguin painted on sacking, not premium canvas. Passion, the creativity to experiment and make mistakes is far more important.

You will become an artist if …

You remember that no one in the world draws and paints like you do. Be proud of the fact. As an artist seek an individual vision, don’t let anyone say you haven’t got that. Or tell you that your art work is not relevant or good enough – what do they know!

Paul Priestley art tutorials are taught with lots of passion, creativity and with a simple step by step approach to drawing and painting that will inspire everyone. Our art tutorials will help you create your individual vision and hopefully, will help you become the artist you have always wanted to be. I sincerely hope so.
