Draw Rocks with Shading
Learn to draw rocks on a beach by using shading and not outlines. This basic drawing tutorial explains how to look for the shapes in what you are drawing. Learn new drawing techniques, in this case drawing rocks on a beach starts by drawing shapes using tone. Creating a tonal range and edges not outlines can make the drawing of rocks look much more convincing.
To draw rocks with tone and shading you must hold the pencil differently, so that the drawing can be done with the side of the pencil and not the tip. This drawing tutorial is for beginners. This video is suitable for primary school children and students in high schools or secondary schools as well as absolute beginners to drawing.

Are you an Artist?
At Paul Priestley’s Art World, we believe being an artist is a twofold process. It’s a combination between skills, techniques, creativity and the ability to see things in a way others often can’t. Some people become obsessed with learning the techniques of drawing and painting, but that only takes you so far. Passion and the creativity to experiment and make mistakes are essential.
You will only become an artist if …
You remember that no one in the world draws and paints like you do. Be proud of the fact. Be proud of the fact. As an artist seek an individual vision, and don’t let anyone say you haven’t got that. Paul Priestley art tutorials are taught with lots of passion, creativity and with a simple step by step approach to drawing that will inspire everyone. Our art tutorials will help you create your individual vision.
