One Point Perspective

Understanding one-point perspective is important if you are going to draw buildings or most three dimensional objects in three dimensions. This really is a basic drawing skill all artists need to understand. In this art tutorial I explain step by step how eye level is the horizon and how to work out where the vanishing point is. This is the fundamental idea behind the use of one-point perspective. The video explains how all horizontal lines must go to the vanishing point and all vertical lines must remain vertical.

This drawing skill is ideal if you are drawing a corridor, tunnel or any other long narrow space. If you look down the corridor you’ll notice the horizontal lines will vanish at a point on the eye level, but also at a point equivalent to the middle of your eyes. The art tutorial is aimed at beginners, school students and those wanting to improve their drawing skills.

Are you an Artist?

At Paul Priestley’s Art World, we believe being an artist is a twofold process. It’s a combination between skills, techniques, creativity and the ability to see things in a way others often can’t. Some people become obsessed with learning the techniques of drawing and painting, but that only takes you so far. Passion, the creativity to experiment and make mistakes is far more important.

You will only become an artist if …

You remember that no one in the world draws and paints like you do. Be proud of the fact. As an artist seek an individual vision, don’t let anyone say you haven’t got that. Or tell you that your art work is not relevant or good enough – what do they know! Paul Priestley art tutorials are taught with lots of passion, creativity and with a simple step by step approach to drawing that will inspire everyone. Our art tutorials will help you create your individual vision.
